Winter Flowerbeds

I spent the day getting my flowerbeds ready for the winter. With all the rain that we've had in NWA most of my flowers still looked good but I knew that they wouldn't last long with the colder temperatures that are here now. I pulled out the periwinkles, coleus, and mondo grass and replaced them with pansies, snapdragons, dianthus, and some ornamental cabbage. I also got everything mulched.

The "after" pictures look bare but I know that in a couple of months it will be full of color. It's so nice to have color in the winter when everything else is brown and dead looking!

Thanks mom for all the plants!!

Fun Weekend!

I had spent most of the week at my mom's house so I was really looking forward to spending the weekend with Mike. Friday night, we decided to have a "date night" with dinner and a movie. We ate at Olive Garden and then watched Couples Retreat at the theater. Dinner was so good (I love their soup, salad and bread sticks) but the movie was kind of boring. There were a few really fun parts but other then that it was sssssoooo slow!

Saturday was game day! We started tailgating at 7:30am with breakfast burritos and Mimosas.

After the BIG win (HOGS won 44-23!) we met Ben, Kelly, and Ann at Sassy's for some BBQ and tequila shots!

I was exhausted after the big day and crashed at 11pm Saturday night. I'm sure the shots had something to do with that too! :)

It seems that football and naps have become a Sunday tradition with us and today was no exception!

What a great weekend!

GO HOGS GO!
It's a chilly 37 degrees! Brrrr!
We're on our way out to tailgate for a couple of hours before the game starts at 11am! The boys are making breakfast burritos and hash browns for breakfast. Yum-my!
I will be making a stop at Starbucks for a vanilla latte to warm me up!
GO HOGS beat those AUBURN TIGERS!!

Relaxing Weekend

Friday night I watched movies while Mike played make up softball games at Lake Fayetteville.

Saturday morning we went to Richards Meat Market to get steaks for dinner. They have the best steaks in NWA and Mike can grill them to perfection! He also grilled some zucchini and onions and I made a red velvet cake for desert.

Starting the grill for the steaks:

We watched football and played UNO all afternoon. Mike won 25 games to my 24 games!

After dinner we met some friends at Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the Razorback game. The HOGS beat the Aggies 47-19- woo hoo!
Ben and Kelly:
Jeremy and Brittney:
Mike and I:
I had to work on my biology project all day Sunday, but I was able to sneak in a little bit of football and a short nap so it wasn't a total bust!
Happy Monday!

I've got a Problem and Weekend Recap

I have a problem. My DVR is my best friend.

Sunday: NFL Football, 60 minutes, The Amazing Race, Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters.

Monday: Regis and Kelly Live, Monday night football, How I Met Your Mother, Two and Half Men, One Tree Hill, Intervention, Hoarders, Jon and Kate Plus 8, The Rachel Zoe Project.

Tuesday: Regis and Kelly Live, Hell's Kitchen, The Biggest Loser, Flipping Out, 18 kids and Counting.

Wednesday: Regis and Kelly Live, Real World/Road Rules Challenge

Thursday: Regis and Kelly Live, Survivor, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Friday: Regis and Kelly Live, Say Yes to the Dress.

Saturday: College Football, Saturday Night Live, Austin City Limits.

That's only what records on my DVR. The list does not include movies or reruns of my favorite shows that I also watch.

I have a problem. My DVR is my best friend. That's ridiculous!

On a more positive note, I am absolutely loving the fall like weather we are having in NWA. I really enjoy sleeping with the windows open. I put the down comforter on the bed this weekend and when it gets cold I love burrowing underneath it.

This past weekend was the Bikes, Blues, and BBQ festival. I decided not to get anywhere near Dickson Street! :)

I didn't feel very good all last week so I went to the doctor Friday morning and she said that I had a sinus infection and allergies. I took it easy all weekend so that I would feel better by Monday.

Friday night we went to a new restaurant/bar called JJ's for dinner (I had the best hamburger ever) and then back home to watch, Summer Rental, for the 1,000th time. It's one of my favorites!

Saturday, Mike got early to play in a softball tournament at Lake Fayetteville and I hung out around the house in my PJ's all day. I got all my homework done early so that I could watch the Hogs play that afternoon. Unfortunately, it wasn't worth watching. :( Another SEC big fat L in the win/lose column. BOO! I sure wish they would get it together and play ball!

Football and naps pretty much sum up my Sunday.

I feel much much better today! YAY! It's supposed to get down in the 30's tonight so I spent the day getting my house plants cleaned up and back in the house for the winter. Yes it took me ALL afternoon. I counted and I have 16 houseplants. SIXTEEN. I live in a two bedroom duplex with very little windows so I have to get pretty creative! I even got the house decorated for Fall/Halloween. A very productive day!

Hope you guys have a great rest of the week!

The Last 2 Weekends

I've been on a blogging break due to school being absolutely crazy!

This blog will not have a single picture. :(

Last weekend, the rain held off and we had a great weekend! Friday we stayed in and cooked dinner together, played dominoes, and watched movies. Saturday morning, Mike went to Oklahoma for a softball tournament and I went to Bentonville to visit with my BFF Crystal and her daughter Lorelia. Crystal and her husband bought a new house last month and I was excited to see it. It's a beautiful home and I'm so happy that they were able to find a great neighborhood for their family. Lorelia is 7 months old, absolutely gorgeous, and such a great baby! The promenade was having an arts and crafts fair so we went and enjoyed walking around looking at all the booths and listening to the live music. That night Mike and I met a group of friends at the Arkansas Music Pavilion to watch Cross Canadian Ragweed. I hadn't seen CCR in several years. It was the first time that I had been to the AMP and I was really impressed. CCR put on an awesome show!

Mike was out of town for work all last week so I spent the week getting caught up on school, the DVR, and cleaning. BORING!

This past weekend was the first home game for the Razorbacks. We got up early Saturday morning and went shopping for some HOG gear for ourselves and Mike's new car. We started tailgating at 1pm and enjoyed hanging with everyone, eating great food and playing ladder golf. We decided not to go to the game and instead meet some friends out at a local sport's bar. HOGS lost to Georgia 52-41. The Defense was HORRIBLE! Hopefully they can fix some things before heading to Tuscaloosa to play Alabama next Saturday.

Gotta get back to my biology project. Have a great week!

The Preppy Princess

Happy Friday!
For this week only being a four day week it sure did seem to last forever. We've got a packed weekend and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the rain doesn't ruin it. I guess it wouldn't be that bad to stay in my pj's all weekend! :)

On a side note- Check out The Preppy Princess blog. They are giving away one of their fabulous plates or platters. I personally like these the best:

That last one would be perfect of a 4th of July BBQ!
