{resolutions}

New for 2013... get back to blogging! And stick with it! I have been terrible at it the last the couple of years, but I'm bound and determined to do better. I love being able to look back at old blog post and reminisce about our daily happenings. So, here's hoping I can get back in the swing of things.

Happy New Year from us!

{high score}

I have to gloat just a little bit here.
This past weekend Mike, his best friend Jeremy, and I went bowling.
I'm usually terrible and rarely get a score above 70.
Well it must have been my night cause I got a high score of 142 and beat BOTH boys in a game.

{my face}

I have never had absolutely terrible skin. Even in my teen years I usually only had the occasional break out or dry skin. I'm so thankful for that since my dad has deep acne scars from when he was younger. That was until I hit the big 3-0. My complexion went crazy. One day it would be super dry and then a couple of days later oily and broke out. I couldn't get any kind of balance. I tried everything and have a cabinet full of "stuff" that didn't work. I have finally found a combination of products that have made all the difference in the world and I feel like my face is finally under control. I know all skin types are different but I thought I would share what has worked so well for me the last year and half.
I used to use Philosophy Purity face wash but opted to start using a drug store brand because it was cheaper. Never again. This stuff is amazing. It's so gentle on your skin yet it gets every inch of your makeup off without scrubbing your face raw. I use this in the AM and the PM.

I know that you're not supposed to use eye make up remover because your rubbing, tugging, and pulling the sensitive skin around your eye but I can't not use it. Clinique Take The Day Off works great on a cotton ball and just blotting the area around the eye. It takes off waterproof mascara so easily and doesn't leave your eyes an oily mess.

Olay Total Effects is my day time moisturizer. It's so light, not oily, and leaves my face so smooth.
I never used a night moisturizer in my 20's (honestly I never washed my face at night either) but I have recently realized how important it is. While you're sleeping your skin repairs itself from all the stress and toxins from the day. Clinique Youth Surge Night Cream works the best for me. I saw a difference the first night. No lie.
I just started using BeautiControl's Resurface Microdeambrasion last fall. Most microdeambrasions that I have used in the past hurt and irritated my skin. I love that I can apply however much pressure I need to with the buffer and it makes my face so much smoother and helps makeup go on easier. I use it three times a week.

{jungle boater race}

This past Sunday I headed back home to the Mulberry River. Every year they have the Jungle Boater canoe race that starts at Bryd's and ends at Turner Bend. I never participate but enjoy spectating and visiting with everyone. It was so good to spend time with my momma and be in the woods!
I even started off the day with my Pig Trail coffee mug.
My momma and I at the campground.
Start of the race!

{hogs win!}

Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble,
When you're perfect in every way
I can't wait to look in the mirror,
'Cause I get better lookin' each day
To know me is to love me,
I must be one hell of a man
Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble,
When you're an ARKANSAS RAZORBACK fan...GO HOGS!

Mike and I went to the Arkansas basketball game tonight. The HOGS played Kentucky and won in overtime. It was such a great game and a good win for the HOGS and Coach Pelphrey! So happy we were able to see it in person!

(water for elephants}

Just finished Water for Elephants and loved it! It's probably in my top five favorite books ever. I. Could. Not. Put. It. Down.

Abbe had read it and told me that I needed to read it soon so that we could go watch the movie this Spring. I'm usually not a fan of books made into movies but after watching the trailer, I'm so excited. I love Reese Witherspoon and I think Robert Patterson will play, Jacob, perfectly.

{flip flops and sandles)

I am SO ready for flip flop and sandal weather. I really wanted to wear a pair this past weekend but it just wasn't warm enough. Plus, I'm in desperate need of a pedi! Here are some of the styles I am loving right now. I could probably post a ton of pictures since I love flip flops so much but I narrowed it down to just a few.
The first 3 styles are from aldo.com

These next two styles are from Target and I actually just bought both of them last week!

I have heard great things about Yellowbox flip flops so I must own a pair this summer! It will be hard for me to pick one out of these 3 styles!

Now all I need is warmer weather!

{catching up}

A couple of weeks ago we had a crazy snow storm here in NWA. We went to bed Tuesday night thinking we might have 3-5 inches of snow but woke up to 17 inches! I couldn't believe it. I have never seen that much snow before.
Up to my knees!

Our cars didn't leave the driveway for several days.

We got bored enough by day 2 to try out the ear candles I bought at the natural food store. I have done them several times before but this was Mike's first time!
Thursday morning it was -16 degrees. BBBBBRRRRR!
Friday night we HAD to get out of the house so we met some friends out for pizza then headed to George's to watch our most favortist band, Reckless Kelly! They put on a fantastic show!
This past Monday was Valentines Day! We celebrated by having a date night. Mike choose Burger Life for dinner and I choose No Strings Attached for the movie.
Friday was the season opener for the baseball HOGS! It felt so good to be back at the ballpark!

That's what has been going on with us!
