Snow- Day Three

I never thought I would say this but...I'm ready to go back to work! Even though it's been nice to get caught up on some things like housework, sleep, and homework- I need to get back to a schedule and work for my sanity!

Mike has been sick sick sick the last couple of days and I felt so bad that we really didn't have any kind of medicine that would help him feel better. So I ventured out to Wal-Mart this afternoon. The roads weren't too bad but I get so nervous driving in this kind of weather.
Theraflu, Gatorade, Halls, Lysol, Klenexx, and a cake mix and icing- all the necessities! :)

My poor Amaryllis started to come out last week when the weather was so beautiful and now it's confused! I hope it still blooms- a little color during this winter mess would be nice.

That's about it for day three. I'm going to settle in on the couch and watch The Grammy's and Desperate Housewives tonight.
Thank goodness things will start getting back to normal tomorrow.

Snow- Day Two

We ended up getting 6 inches of snow yesterday! The only ruler I could find was a 6 1/2 inch ruler- wierd. Anyway, SIX inches. WOWZERS!
It's only day two and I'm already going crazy. Mike woke up sick this morning so he's spent most of the day in bed drinking NyQuil- poor guy! :( So I've spent the day by myself and it has been bor-ing! I played in the snow a little this morning, made homemade chicken noddle soup and cornbread, finished up the laundry, watched all my shows on the DVR, took a shower, vacuumed, cleaned the bathroom, and organized the spare bedroom closet. It's nice to have time to do those things but now I'm out of things to keep me busy. Day three should be interesting! I'm hoping to get out and make a much needed trip to Wal-Mart. Fingers crossed!

Dear Weather Letter

Dear Weather,

I am not happy to hear that we could have another ice storm this afternoon/night. This is what you did last year and it was not fun. Please bring back the sunshine and warm temperatures!

Two Days Off In A Row!

I have looked forward to this weekend for weeks now! Not because I had big plans but that's exactly why I've looked forward to it. For the past 6 weeks, I've stepped into the managers position at work which has led to 54 hour work weeks. Add 12 hours of school on top of that and I'm one exhausted girl!

Friday night Mike went to a friends house to play poker with the guys. I did a little shopping after work and then headed home to curl up on the couch and read a book that I've wanted to start on for a while now.

Saturday morning we slept in, ordered IHOP to go, came back home got back in our pj's, and watched a movie. Mike's really big into 80's movies and is shocked that I haven't seen most of them so I usually have an 80's movie on the DVR waiting for me to watch. After fitting in a nap, we watched the HOGS play Kentucky. What a miserable game! We played UNO during most of game so we didn't have to watch the whopping Kentucky put on us! I must add that I won 25 to Mike's 24 games. HA!

Saturday we got around and met some friends at the bowling alley. I am horrible at bowling! The girls were no competition what so ever for the boys! Afterwards we went to a local bar to play some pool. I am also horrible at pool so the boys won every game. We still had so much fun!

Sunday has consisted of napping, do laundry, homework and watching football. I was glad to see the Colts win and I'm hoping the Saints beat the Vikings tonight!

These last two days have been exactly what I needed. I feel so refreshed and ready to start another busy week.

Christmas with my Mom

My mom came to town the Sunday after Christmas to spend the day with us. She was not able to make it for my birthday or Christmas due to the weather. She came bearing gifts, homemade lasagna, and a boston cream pie. All my favorites! :)

My mom makes this cake every year for my birthday. It so so so YUMMY!
For last 10 years or so I've been saving my favorite t-shirts for my mom to make a t-shirt quilt for me. We had talked about doing it together but never found the time. It was a great surprise to open one of my gifts and see she had finished it! I LOVE IT! There are so many great memories on that quilt. It has been on the couch, keeping us warm while watching TV, every day since then.

My senior t-shirt with all my classmates signatures (1998):
My senior trip to St Louis(1998):
My very first Hog bowl game (1999):
The white shirt is an honor roll shirt from senior year (1998)
The grey shirt was in a care package that we got on the first night in the dorms at the U of A (1998):
Mardi Gras t-shirt from the last year Kammy, Lexi and I went (2003)
I can still see my step dad Jim wearing this blue t-shirt. There are several of his shirts included which makes this quilt even more special since he passed away in 2007.

I went to the Okra Fest with my grandparents and brought this shirt home for my mom(1992):

We had such a great day visiting, eating, and opening gifts!
Thanks mom for making the holidays so special!

Christmas!

Christmas Eve, I got all the presents wrapped and under the tree and then Mike and I watched Christmas Vacation and The Christmas Story. It started snowing hard when we decided to head to bed and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to sleep with the anticipation of having a white Christmas in the morning. I did manage to sleep in till 8 and woke up to 4 inches of snow! We spent the morning opening the gifts we got for each other and the afternoon with Mike's family.

Stockings my mom made for us:

The Big 3-0!

I had to work on my birthday, that's what happens when your birthday is two days before Christmas and you work in retail, but my boss did surprise me with this awesome double layer cookie cake!

That night Mike cooked me dinner and then we went to the Fayetteville square to see the Christmas lights. It had stopped raining just in time for us to walk around a couple of times and take pictures. They did a great job this year- it was beautiful!

When I got home I opened my presents from Mike and we had left over birthday cake!
It was a perfect 30th birthday!
